Het beeldend werk van Victor van Loon ( Groningen, 1978) bestaat uit tekeningen in gemengde techniek; voornamelijk potlood en droge pastel, soms wordt in het papier gesneden. De voorstellingen, die hij laag voor laag opbouwt en die zeer geduldig tot stond komen, bevatten landschappelijke ruimtes of refereren meer aan huis en bergachtige structuren. Aantasting, onderhuidse spanning en transformatie zijn daarbij belangrijke thema’s. Het zijn gelaagde en verzonken ‘innerlandscapes’ ; reservoirs vol tekens en sporen, waar voorbij het oppervlak een verhaal sluimert en woekert.
The visual work of Victor van Loon ( Groningen, 1978 ) consists of work on paper in mixed media. Within this scenic performances, which often move around encroachment, the space in which we live; our body, becomes a reservoir of our own history. A sunken and layered ‘ innerlandscape ’ full of images and atmospheres where below the surface our story slumbers and proliferates. Using dry pastel, pencil, charcoal and knife is in a process of application, diminish, wipe away and retrieve the image surface-worked and very gradually raised.
