Outside it is cold, inside it’s warm and cozy. This is the theme for the groupshow of this 2023 winter. The works in this show bring you the fresh feeling of a cold winter day or night, where your breath freezes when it comes out your mouth, or the comfortable feeling of a warm living room.

Anne van As is a regular artist at the gallery. This time, she will show a large installation of her ongoing series of small landscape paintings. It is a selection with works from 2015 to the present, offering a nice overview of this series.

Anne Mensinga is exhibiting for the first time at gallery with tsjalling. She graduated from the Classical Academy in 2021 with paintings of windows. Meanwhile, she stays true to this theme, but the focus is becoming less on the representation of reality and more on the abstract composition the window suggests.

Sara van Vliet is currently following the master’s programme at the Frank Mohr Institute. Her paintings of interiors stand out because of the use of materials. Using plaster or painting medium, she forms thick blobs of paint on the canvas in which she applies simple, almost cartoonish images.
